"Rimini" Marble Floor Medallion

Description

The Rimini represents a sophisticated evolution in marble floor design. While traditional medallions are typically contained within a set geometric shape—such as a circle, oval, or square—the Rimini pushes these boundaries. It features elaborate scroll elements that extend gracefully beyond the central focal point and into the surrounding floor, creating a seamless, custom-tailored appearance.

Installation Considerations Because the design interacts directly with the field tile, it requires more precise planning than a standard drop-in medallion. We offer two primary methods for achieving this look:

  • Option 1: The Factory-Integrated Floor (Recommended) To achieve a true "floating" effect, we precut the intricate scrollwork directly into the surrounding tiles at our factory. In this scenario, we supply the marble for the entire room. By using the same stone for both the medallion background and the field tiles, the design appears to emerge naturally from the floor without visible seams or color breaks.

    • Requirements: We need your specific room dimensions and preferred design scale to provide an accurate quote.

  • Option 2: The Bordered Inlay If you prefer to use your own locally sourced tiles for the main floor, we can enclose the Rimini design within a decorative border (often a rectangle or large circle). This visually "frames" the artwork, separating the inner custom work from your surrounding floor.

    • Pro-Tip: To ensure a cohesive look, you may send us a physical sample of your tile. This allows our artisans to select an inner stone that closely matches your material for a more harmonious transition.

Specification

Unless noted otherwise in the description, all standard stone medallions are supplied per the following specification:

  • The standard total thickness is 3/8".
  • The stone top layer 3/16" is glued on the aluminum backer, same thickness.
  • The surface is polished. You may order custom surface treatment - honed or acid-washed for an additional charge.
  • Medallions up to 72" in diameter, 3/8" thickness, can be made as a single piece, ready to install. Larger marble medallions are supplied as precisely fit segments.

We recommend ordering solid marble medallions 16-18mm (~3/4") thickness without aluminum backing for outdoor applications or commercial areas. Solid marble has a plastic mesh net backing. Please note, the solid 16-18mm marble medallions over 48" diameter shipped as several segments. Segments are fit on-site without gaps. Select 3/4" option in thickness when ordering on-line.

All stone medallions by Czar Floors are made by cutting natural stone slabs with a CNC high-power waterjet.
Compare to other manufacturers such as "Medallion Depot" or others. Buried in their descriptions is the fact that their medallions are made from inexpensive off-the-shelf 12 x 12 x 3/8 marble tiles.

Our process eliminates visible seams between various marble pieces and simplifies handling and installation - no puzzles to assemble.

Waterjet medallions in standard 3/8" thickness are assembled as tightly as possible on an aluminum backer. Czar Floors medallions are polished and sealed, and there are no gaps or grout between individual pieces. The key to making a large single medallion piece is to use modern technology to fuse the marble top layer to the ultra-light and strong aluminum honeycomb backer. Thickness refers to an overall combination of marble and aluminum.
